Kimpton Hotel Fontenot

The Kimpton Hotel Fontenot feels classy from the moment you walk through the front entrance of this boutique hotel.

The air of sophistication mixed with southern hospitality carries through with the black and white decor that exudes charm in the face of modernism. That feeling is carried through the Jazz music playing in the lobby with subtle appreciative art pieces, including the musical form and the man the hotel was named after.

Kimpton Hotel Fontenot is comprised of two restored 19th-century buildings, which have been combined to form one property. Traces of the original architecture still remain in the exposed brick walls, stained glass windows, and winding staircases. Yet, the hotel seamlessly blends historical design with contemporary comforts and amenities.

Our room overlooked a stunning city view with floor-to-ceiling windows to do it, and it was MASSIVE! I knew I wanted to stay in a nicer room with a great view, but I did not expect it to be as grand as it was. For reference, we stayed at Kimpton and celebrated a late Christmas with extended family; by size comparison, we were able to open 3 27”(and 50 lbs) checked bags on the floor, 3 21" rolling carry-on, have an array of duffel bags on the ground, and still walk around the room hand in hand without touching the luggage. It's a lot of space. I also appreciated the yoga mat in the room as a nice touch to get a little stretching in after all the walking.

Speaking of walking, then staying at the Kimpton Hotel Fontenot, you'll be just steps away from the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, and the Arts District. We could walk from the hotel to nearly every place we wanted. It's less close than directly out the hotel's door, but within a mile in each direction, you can make it around a good chunk of the best spots to visit in downtown NOLA. The complimentary coffee and tea service is located downstairs on the first floor in the cute little coffee shop serving up La Columbe goodness. The hotel also has two other restaurants, King and the Peacock Room, where you can enjoy lunch and dinner.

From the gorgeous historic architecture to the prime location and fabulous dining, the Kimpton Hotel Fontenot is a hidden gem in New Orleans. It's the perfect place to fully immerse yourself in the captivating culture and old-world charm that makes this city so special.
