A Culinary Journey to Ancient Greece: Exploring Mythos Restaurant at Universal Orlando

Introduction

When visiting anywhere, I want to eat the best they offer. To experience what all the rave is about. So naturally, when visiting Universal Orlando, I had to try the award-winning Mythos restaurant. Located in Islands of Adventure, this restaurant offers more than a bite to eat; it truly is an escape from the world of now into a journey through ancient Greek Mythology. There's a reason why this is a must-visit for anyone coming into the Universal sphere.

The Mythical Ambiance

Before stepping inside the Mythos Restaurant, you are transported to a mythical land of Greek gods and goddesses. The outside boasts the face of Poisideon as a waterfall beckoning the visitor to come closer. The restaurant is designed to resemble a grotto. A stone fish is spraying water from its mouth into a pond inside. Greek goddesses are carved into pillars to support the ceiling, and when you look up, you see the holes and circular shapes of the grotto you are in. The yellow and purple light fixtures that shine upward add to the feeling of grandeur. Everything in the space simultaneously comes together to be immersive, bright, and elegant. The atmosphere is perfect for anyone who loves Greek mythology, as you can find references to famous gods and goddesses everywhere. It boasts indoor and outdoor seating and offers a stunning view of the park's lagoon. If you dine indoors, explore the walking path and scenic overlook surrounding the restaurant after dinner.

The Delicious Cuisine

Besides the ambiance, Mythos Restaurant is also famous for its delicious cuisine. The menu features a range of Mediterranean-inspired dishes, including salads, sandwiches, and pasta. The restaurant is known for its fresh ingredients and generous portions, and there's something for everyone, including vegetarians and gluten-free dinners, which was significant for our group since we have a Pescatarian and I am a Vegetarian.

I got the Vegan version of the Souvlaki Couscous Bowl, which was delicious. The couscous and chickpeas were spiced to perfection with a meaty bit from the tofu and kalamata olives, offset by the freshness of the cucumber and sauce. It was everything my Mediterranean heart desired. Also, the portion size was perfect, something I struggled with in my Universal endeavors.

The Awards and Recognition

It's not just the visitors who love the Mythos Restaurant - it has also won several awards and recognition over the years. In fact, it has been voted the "Best Theme Park Restaurant" by Theme Park Insider for 8 consecutive years. The restaurant has also been recognized by TripAdvisor, USA Today, and Orlando Sentinel, among others. It's not hard to see why - the Mythos Restaurant is a fun combination of great ambiance, delicious cuisine, and excellent service.

Conclusion

This is a must-visit if you're planning a trip to Universal Orlando. Whether you're a fan of Greek mythology or just looking for a great dining experience, this restaurant has something for everyone.
